Gladiators Zone - Tempest, Lucy Boggis

Naturally beautiful, a force of nature bringing furious agitation and commotion.

Tempest is a full-time athlete, competing in the heptathlon. She has previously won four gold medals in the English schools competition, been the national javelin champion two years running and is the national pentathlon indoor record holder. Since taking up athletics at the age of 11, Tempest has consistently been ranked in the top three for at least one of the heptathlon events. Tempest hopes to compete in the London Olympics in 2012.

What are your memories of the original series of Gladiators?
It was amazing and had the coolest people ever. The whole family used to sit down together and watch it and I once overflowed the bath because I forgot I'd left it running whilst I was downstairs watching Gladiators.

Who was your favourite Gladiator?
Jet and Hunter. And now I've just met Jet, which was unbelievable.

What qualities does a Gladiator need?
A Gladiator needs to be a good sportsman, taking losing well but always wanting to win too. They also need to be strong, fun and good role models for the kids at home.

What can the audience expect from Tempest?
The woman who brings storms. I don't like to be beaten, so I'll be putting up a good fight.

Do you have any words of warning for the Contenders?
I may be the youngest, but I'm by no means the weakest.

Who or what is your inspiration?
I saw Denise Lewis at the Syndey Olympics and started to train for the heptathlon because of her.

Which events are you most looking forward to?
Powerball and Hang Tough.

If you were an animal what would you be?
Probably a lion because my hair is a bit out of control and they're scary, but beautiful.
