INTERVIEW
Q: "Was the Gladiators experience as good as you expected?"
Paul Beswick: "When you are doing something like that you have an idea what it is going to be like, yet when I arrived I found it 10 times better."
Q: "Do you think the show would be tougher now than it was when you featured in the show?"
Paul Beswick: "No a lot more safety elements have been put in with people getting injured, like, I fell from the top of Pyramid in the arms of Shadow, I beat Hunter to the top of the Pole Axe and somersaulted off the top, you are unable to do that now."
Q: "Who would you regard as the toughest Gladiator you faced in the arena?"
Paul Beswick: "All of them were tough when playing there specialist games, but if I had to plum for one then it would have been Hunter."
Q: "Which was the most difficult event you competed in?"
Paul Beswick: "None as they were all equally tough in there own way, but because of the level of fitness I attained then and my athleticism I coped with them all."
Q: "Do you think that if you were to compete in the show again you would approach your training in a different way?"
Paul Beswick: "No, I'm about a stone heavier now, purely and simply because I am a Pro wrestler now rather than a pole vaulter, but I still attain the same level of fitness."
Q: "You reached the semi-finals in the Gladiators show, did you ever imagine you would get that far?"
Paul Beswick: "No I don't think anyone does, they all want to win but at the end of the day I wanted to have fun and entertain people, I achieved both of those aims, had I gone there to solely win then I would have been devastated, as it was I didn't and wasn't."
Q: "How did you find the Gladiators themselves, were they nice?"
Paul Beswick: "There like you and me, except they get paid a lot more, warm friendly down to earth, fantastic."
Q: "What is your most memorable moment from the Gladiators?"
Paul Beswick: "Beating Hunter up the Pole Axe and diving off, the only person ever to do both."
Q: "Would you like the chance to compete in the show again, or have you had your time with the show?"
Paul Beswick: "No I'd do it all again because that's the type of person I am and it would be good publicity for my wrestling career."
Q: "Do you still enjoy the show even though you have competed on it?"
Paul Beswick: "Yes because I can fully appreciate what it takes to get on the show and do what they do."
Q: "What are your future plans?"
Paul Beswick: "I wrestle for an organisation in the States which is one of the Official WWF training venues, they have offered me a full time contract, I should be returning to the US in August to live and work there."
